The elementary school program was established to provide student with a positive chess experience.  In theWinter of 2002, the first year of the School Chess Club Program, it attracted 15 students. The Club has since attracted over 30 students per session and meets once a week from March to April.  This instructional eight week course was held from 3:30PM-4:30PM at the school. It was open to all students enrolled at Pitcairn Elementary (grades kindergarten to 4th grade). The cost was $5.00. Students receive certificates, trophies and ribbon for their participation. Members from Monroeville Chess Club help with teaching these students.
